DIK is the union for everyone working or studying in culture and communication and the creative sector. Our strength is that we have great knowledge and expertise about what it is like to work specifically in our members’ industries.
Our members work, or are studying to work, in libraries and advertising agencies, at museums and, for example, as communications officers in public services. We also organise e.g. archivists and video game developers, cultural managers, linguists and interpreters. The unifying theme is culture, communication and the creative sector.
We have worked with the same groups for decades and have great experience of our members’ conditions, challenges and opportunities, which few other unions have. Put simply, we are a professional association with specialist knowledge of the situation of our members.
This means that we can be specific – but also that we can design services especially for our members. Specialist knowledge concerning copyright law is one example; media management and PR support as part of our business insurance policy for sole traders is another. We also offer our members discounts on relevant training courses.
