The union for students

Do you want to be ready for your future career? Become a student member of DIK now and get access to advice, support and lots of smart benefits.

If you are a student and studying for something in culture, communication, the humanities or the creative sector, you can be a student member of DIK. We can support you in everything from choosing your path in your future career to what salary you ought to have when you enter working life. You get access to all our membership benefits, but only pay SEK 100 for the duration of your studies (then, when you have started working, you pay a small fee during your first as a new graduate).

We are a professional association – you always get qualified advice from people who understand how things work in your particular future industry. DIK’s members are studying to be or already working as, for example, communications officers, video game developers, writers, librarians, social media managers, designers, archaeologists, museum workers, TV producers, script writers, cultural strategists, marketers, interpreters, web editors and PR experts.

Smart membership benefits for a better student life

The advantage of already becoming a union member when you are studying is that you find out what rights you have both as a student and later as an employee. This will make things easier for your future conditions, salary and work situation. Through membership you can also get help from our certified career coaches in tidying up your CV, receive coaching before looking for a job or placement and get valuable tips when it is time to negotiate your salary.

You also get access to all of DIK’s membership benefits at your extra jobs. You can get an overview of our membership benefits at the bottom of this page.

Influence issues you are passionate about

As a member, you are involved in influencing politicians and employers for better working conditions and salaries in your future industry. The more of us there are, the more of a difference we can make together. You can also get involved in DIK’s expert group for students – make a difference and get a merit for your CV!

What do you get out of our membership benefits as a student?

Career coach
Our career coaches give you tips and advice ahead of looking for a placement or job. Get help improving your CV, personal letters or LinkedIn profile. We also offer interview training so that you feel prepared ahead of your first job interview after graduating.

Salary coach
When you move into the labour market, it can be a good idea to book an appointment with a salary coach so as to get a picture of the salary level in your future industry. The salary coach helps you with negotiating tactics and how to prepare for the salary dialogue. Your first salary sets the bar for what your salary growth will be like, so it is important to know how much you can ask for as a new graduate.

Accident insurance
A student accident insurance policy from Akademikerförsäkring is included in membership in DIK for all students up to the age of 67. You can also buy a home insurance policy for SEK 78 per month – perfect for small student housing!

Min privatjurist [My private lawyer]
Student members have free access to Min privatjurist throughout their studies. You can, for example, get help drawing up a cohabitee agreement, a will or a sub-let contract and handling identity theft and online hate or if your student grant is frozen.

Tusen frågor [A thousand questions] talk support
As a student member, you get free talk support by phone where you can get advice and guidance from a psychologist, health educator, dietician, occupational therapist, lawyer or economist. You can ask questions about your private life or job and the talks are always confidential.

Discount at SJ and Adlibris
As a DIK member, you can benefit from discounts at both SJ and Adlibris. Sign into Mitt DIK  [My DIK] and go to  My benefits to access the discounts.

Access all these benefits right away. Become a member today – it only costs SEK 100 for the duration of your studies!
